“Nothing compares to the soul ties I share with my girls,” said the 35-year-old media maven. With 15-years experience in media, talent relations, and event production, she knows about overcoming obstacles with a smile. “For the first time in a long time, I’m reflecting on the balance between the anxiety of motherhood and my passion for the spaces I loved before becoming a mom. “Every day, I continue learning how to be a great mom while showing up in the spaces that matter most. I’m grateful for the life I’ve built—balancing marriage, motherhood to Tristyn (5) and Naima (2), entrepreneurship, and public speaking in the collegiate space. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.”

Like most mothers, around this time, Christina is gearing up for Spring Break, which means she’ll have to pull off a balancing act with her two kids home. The exuberant mom is going to it joyfully. “We’re starting Spring Break with an exciting milestone for our big girl, Tristyn,” she beamed.

“As a family, we run an online children’s book club and are passionate advocates for reading. My husband and I have been homeschooling her using Hooked on Phonics (not an ad, just a shoutout—it really helped!). Now, she’s getting ready for her first-ever public reading at the Children’s Book Festival at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia—a huge moment for us.”

So how does she plan on keeping the learning going all week? Tapping into her own Spring Break memories, she recalled a trip to the Grand Canyon that changed her life. “That trip also sparked my love for landscape photography after witnessing the breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon (I still have the pics!)”

“Beyond the festival, we’re keeping traditions alive with fun activities inspired by my mom and aunties,” she said. Some examples of activities she plans with her children are: Egg Dyeing: A childhood favorite! Eggs are pricey these days, so I found this fun alternative we might try (or mix with the real thing): Egg Decorating Hack. An Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt, story time at Barnes & Noble or local bookstores, the Children’s Museum and outdoor fun!

And she’s all about creating meaningful learning memories. “For example, instead of just visiting the zoo, we’ll grab a few books from our local library to learn about specific animals beforehand. That way, when we visit, we can spend extra time observing those animals.”

So how does this media mom manage to balance it all? A strong self-care routine. “I’m a huge advocate for daily self-care—it’s the only way I can show up as the best mom for my girls. Thankfully, being a girl mom means sometimes bringing them along for my self-care dates!”
