Sure, Michigan is known for its charming fall scenery, but the state is also rich with culture, outdoor activities and culinary experiences that will tantalize your taste buds. Buckle up. Here’s your guide to keeping it fresh in Pure Michigan. 

For the Culture

Every year, thousands of art lovers descend upon Grand Rapids, Michigan, to visit ArtPrize – an immersive art experience. ArtPrize is the grand stage for top artists. Connoisseurs of the culture are encouraged to vote for who should win a portion of the $400,000 prize. 


At the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, you can explore exhibits of shipwreck artifacts, artwork, shipwreck models and lifelike mannequins that tell the story of Michigan’s maritime history. With tours of the restored 1861 Lightkeeper’s Quarters, the 1923 Surfboat House, the Motor Lifeboat House and the Navy Radio Building, the museum is a main attraction for the community and tourists alike.


Music runs through the veins of Detroit. As the birthplace of the legendary Motown, its essence can still be felt at the Motown Museum. Go on an interactive tour of the historic Hitsville U.S.A. and enjoy curated exhibits, a tour of Berry Gordy’s apartment and Studio A – the legendary recording studio where timeless tunes were created from 1959 to 1972. Combine your love for jazz music and stunning waterfront scenes at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre with its 5,000 seats and views of the Detroit River.

Spark your child’s imagination at the Air Zoo Aerospace & Science Museum in Portage  or at Dinosaur Gardens, where science comes to life at the amusement park that fosters a fun learning environment in Ossineke, Michigan.

Adventure Quest

With over 900 miles of trails and dozens of kayak launches, campsites and fishing piers, Michigan is the ultimate attraction for outdoor enthusiasts. See an incredible view of Michigan’s landscape on the SkyBridge Michigan in Boyne. The SkyBridge is the world's longest timber-towered suspension bridge and provides the ultimate sightseeing experience from 118 feet in the air.

You’ll want to dust off the family camera for this next spot. Michigan’s Tunnel of Trees in Harbor Springs provides dozens of photo ops along the historic M-119. Around this time, orange and red leaves coat the ground providing an unmatched fall aesthetic. Looking for another scenic location your family will love? Michigan's Upper Peninsula is home to Tahquamenon Falls, a breathtaking 200-foot-wide waterfall. Whether you’re building a tent on the campgrounds or catching a rowboat from a park concession, you won’t want to miss the views from the various waterfalls. Spray Falls in Munising Township or the Hungarian Falls in Hubbell are also breathtaking destinations for the family. 

Taste of Flavor

Michigan really has it all, including delicious dishes that will leave the biggest foodie satisfied. From shawarma with fries in it to Detroit-style pizza, the eats are as good as the treats.
